Spend the Day in Walton – Recap

Our Annual Spend the Day in Walton was held on November 26th and what a wonderful day it was!  Not only was the weather beautiful, seeing the village bustling with holiday cheer made the day an incredible success!

Many businesses offered spectacular sales, complimentary refreshments, activities…etc!

The Townsend School PTA offered Santa’s Workshop & Craft Fair and hosted the voting for the Gingerbread Contest.  First place went to Taneka Wayman, 2nd place was Noah Aubin, third place the Tiger Cubs Pack 45, and they were awarded pizza certificates from Danny’s Restaurant.  Fourth place winner was Heather Merrill from Downsville and fifth place was Dylan Jacob, they received movie tickets and popcorn from the Walton Theatre.

The Walton Theatre offered a Free Family Matinee of “Puss In Boots” compliments of The National Bank of Delaware, Community Bank and Sidney Federal Credit Union.

Thank you to Tom Newman and Bob LaTourette for providing, once again, the Horse-Drawn Hayrides.  The children were ecstatic to get to ride with such big and beautiful horses!

The Christmas Parade drew quite the gathering!  The participants of the parade happily smiled, waved and some even threw candy to the children in the crowd that lined Delaware and Bridge Streets.  Thank you to the Dewing Family for giving out free kettle corn at the parade!

Immediately following the Christmas Parade, the Walton Christmas Tree was lit to mark the beginning of the Christmas season!  How exciting it was!

Thank you to Keath Davis of Breakey Motors for allowing us to warm up with Hot Dogs & Hot Chocolate and to meet Mr. & Mrs. Claus as well as McDonald’s icon, Ronald McDonald!  We send thanks to Don Smith for inviting Ronald McDonald to join us once again!  Thank you to Netty’s Flowers for the beautiful decorations, Danny’s Restaurant for donating the hot dogs and to the Walton Lion’s Club for graciously serving these warm refreshments.

Danny’s Restaurant provided live entertainment with Chuck & Terri.  TA’s Place hosted a Pie Social with music by Larry Jamieson & Friends with a donation basket for the Delaware Valley Hospital Auxiliary.  West 38 had a night of grown up fun to unwind from the days festivities.

This year, we began a Lighting Contest!  The lighting contest winners were 1st place Kathy Shelton on Freer Hollow, all her votes were first place votes but one!  2nd went to Bryan Mead on Bruce St., 3rd place to Tiffany Reeder and Eric Wood on St John St., 4th place to Sue Malia on Prospect Ave and 5th place to Heather McAdams on Delaware St. Congratulations to all and thank you to Danny’s Restaurant, C & C Feeds and Christine Sousa of Mary Kay Cosmetics who contributed prizes for the top three, and the Chamber who extended the winners and contributed prizes of lights for the 4th and 5th place winners!  Thanks everyone who participated and can’t wait till next year!

We send sincere thanks to our members and everyone that worked hard volunteering their time to make this day possible!  We hope you enjoyed the day!  Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
